Day Four
Tuesday, 9 October 2007

On the Tuesday we had a day out to the town of Siena. We had another leisurely day wandering up and down the tiny and very hilly streets. The highlight of the day for the boys was the escalator ride from out car parking to the San Francesco church, which seemed to go on forever! We sat in the Piazza del Campo, people watching and enjoying a cup of tea. A bicycle race was being held through the town centre and there was a lot of music and entertainment. Henry was still waiting to see the ‘real’ Pinocchio but was distracted by a trip to the supermarket for a new toy on the way home in Poggibonsi, (we all found this name entertaining and called it Poggi Botti....how sad we are)!  Siena was ‘charming’,( how like travel agent talk) and we have vowed to return as a couple for a ‘romantic’ break.

Charles Dickens was right.....
